9.0.5 Native Card -- HUH?

I don't get this. In order to use PT 9 with 10.6.8 I had to update the Native Card firmware to 1.02

Now for 9.0.5 to work I need to update to firmware 1.03. But you can't update from 10.6.8 or Lion....???? Huh?

Mac Only: Be sure to update HD Native firmware to version 1.03 before updating to Mac OS X 10.6.8 or Mac OS X 10.7.x (Lion).
It is not possible to upgrade HD Native firmware from those versions of Mac OS X.
It is not possible to upgrade HD Native firmware using a Thunderbolt MacBook Pro.

Am I missing something?

If you're already on 9.0.4 and have HD Native firmware 1.02 you can update to 9.0.5 and firmware 1.03 (using 10.6.8, 10.7 and Thuderbolt MacBook Pros).

We'll add this info to the online release notes for clarification.

I've just done a 9.0.5 update from 9.0.4 in 10.6.8. Firmware updated fine and Tools seems to be behaving itself nicely.

Besides the memory error messages, [which are a problem even in a small session] What does 9.05 do? does it help that?
do I need a new driver for my i/o?

Yes, when you launch Pro Tools, Pro Tools will check what FPGA revision and update.
