Hardware Comp on Master Channel!
Good day ya'll!
Please help refresh my memory. I'm using a vintage Digi 001 setup with an RME ADI-8 piped through the ADAT ports. I'm inserting a hardware comp (Cranesong STC-8) on the Master buss through the RME's i/0 (placed after McDSP's AC1, and before WAVE's L2) during mixdown. Is this subject to system latency? If so, what's the best workaround (life's full of workarounds when using the Digi 001, this we know!!!). FWIW, I'm Bouncing to disk. Thanks to any who can provide info! |

Re: Hardware Comp on Master Channel!
There will of course be some latency in the setup you described, but it should be of no consequence since is across the whole 2-mix. In other words, even if there were 30 seconds of latency (exagerating) it wouldn't matter b/c your whole mix is affected- nothing with be out of alignment with anything else.
Not sure if that's what you're asking....am I missing something? |
