Default OT: Am I the only one PO\'d about CDNOW and Amazon merging?

I really thought that CDNOW's site was VERY well organized and I loved the way it was set up. Now, Amazon was great for books but lacks the same flow for music I think. Two thumbs WAY down.

I need to find a new online store for music buying. Any suggestions? I have only used CDNOW for years.

Eric

PS. this smacks of the Comic Book Guy in an "I plan to rush home and register my complaint on the internet" sort of way, I know. Worst online store merger ever...

Cdnow used to be the easiest way to look up songs and artists and now it's ruined.
I was looking for a song the other day and I kept getting ads to buy all kinds of crap that had nothing to do with music. Horrible site now.

I'm with you brother!

I too LOVED how CDNOW's site was set up. It was very informative and organized. I've never been a big fan of Amazon, and I now I just flat out hate em'!

I'm doing my shopping on www.bestbuy.com , and have been very pleased. Their site isn't quite as good as CDNOW's was, but it's a heck of a lot better than Amazon.

The "Related Artists" link on CDNOW was one of the best features. I found more good music that way. Probably the last 10-15 cds I have bought were of artists I had never heard of until using that feature. What a waste.

This was how I felt back in April when I was looking for a Q-Rex MegaZoid for my son and the online toy stores kept taking me to AMAZON.com.

Amazon is good for certain things but they definitely can't cover all the bases.

www.allmusic.com is great for researching music and artists related to what you're interested in. You can't buy things there but you can surf around to check out what you want and then go somewhere else to do the purchasing.

I agree with you, CDnow was my favorite online cd store and now, i wont buy from there again. Try www.dvdempire.com, they are excellent for DVD and CD's.

I use dvdempire.com for DVDs but never for music. I will give them a shot. I will also check out allmusic.com. Thanks for the suggestions.

Another point of contention is that my CDNOW wishlist disappeared. I had a ton of stuff on there from all kind of research and poof...

Hmm.. My post dissapeared, but the gist was,
I love Amazon.com. IMO, the merge was inevitable, and though the "related artists" button was cool, it was fairly accurate for my selections, and I never bought from CDNOW.com anyway, so, it doesnt really affect me. Amazon.com is cheaper, and has about 3 times the selection of CD's.
Not to mention excellent service, and free shipping.

I was really disappointed when I went to CDNOW only to get Amazon. The same organization just isn't there. Oh well. Another one bites the dust.
