Default Still disconnecting from Pace authorization and I-lock

I started getting this when I upgraded to my Mac Studio Ultra 2. Several times a day all my plugins will disconnect form their authorization on I-lock and Pace. It forces a re-boot from cold. Before someone suggested that I plug my I-lock directly into the computer port and I did that, but the issue persists. Any ideas, very annoying and time consuming.

Hi Garnoil,

May I ask what operating system are you using as well as the version if your Pro Tools? Have you also tried checking for any update for your iLok license manager?

Ventura 13.5, I-lock license manager is up to date Mac Studio Ultra 2G

How is the iLok connected? Is it on a hub? Try moving it to a port on the computer? Are you using Cloud authorization? That requires a 100% bulletproof internet connection and I would skip the cloud and use a physical iLok

All of the plugins loose contact with the I-lock and the actual I-lock Key is connected to the computer and NOT through a hub, directly into the computer port, All of the sudden a big red notice appears and says that I- lock is not found. Re-boot from cold fixes the issue, but it is very annoying.

I just wanted to say that I'm also seeing this same kind of error as well. Not daily, it's more rare for me, maybe once a week or so, but it is still random and annoying when it pops up and forces a restart.

Mac Studio M2 Max, running Ventura 13.6.4, and Pro Tools Ultimate 2023.9.0.

3rd gen ilok USB key (the small silver one) plugged directly into the computer itself (not going through a dock or hub), not using ilok cloud for anything, and running the latest ilok license manager software.

Can't seem to find a rhyme or reason to why it happens.

I also started seeing this when I set up a new Mac Studio M2 Ultra last year.

Lots of disconnects when using the built-in USB-A ports, not just with iLok but also various other peripherals.

I switched to using the USB-C ports with adapters or hubs instead, and the problem went away completely.

My impression was it's more of an Apple issue, but I didn't investigate any further once it started working reliably for me.

I wonder if that is the case (bad USB -A ports) in fact my 2020 intel iMac had a bad USB port right out of the box which I never took the time to have repaired, I just connected a hub to a functioning USB port and never looked back
