Re: Logic Forum, how to use - Protools Forum How to Fix
That's what makes me sick! I do love PT... but it's kinda ****ED UP when you know... in other apps you'll have more power... and less limitations...
One day, I'll dive deep into logic and forget PT...

Re: Logic Forum, how to use - Protools Forum How to Fix
Hello. Actually Barry I thought the subject was the user forums, not software limitations. Pro Tools LE stands for Limited Edition, or Light Edition. The limits are self imposed and nothing else. However I thought you wanted to talk about the forums and not the software. Your title implies that in the Logic forum there are very few problems and PT is only problems. I think if you go to the sonikmatter forum you will see that it is filled with problem threads also. As for this being advice for others, anyone who doesn't know that Pro Tools LE is limited is living in a cave. HD TDM system can do just as much as any Logic, Nuendo or any other software. The LE limitations are self imposed to protect the TDM HD systems. For anyone who hasn't tried it, I highly recommend Logic. I also recommend Nuendo, Sonar, Samplitude, DP, Sound Forge, Gigastudio and Cool Edit Pro. I thought the subject was forums.

Re: Logic Forum, how to use - Protools Forum How to Fix
"the legendary track limitation..."
Why is this such a drag on so many people? For years, recordings were "limited" to 24 tracks. Didn't Queen and Def Leppard do some magic with "only" 24 tracks (I won't even harp on the Beatles and the 4 track thing...) Seriously, we have it better than anyone in the glory days of analog studio work. At least we can do all that work without tape generation loss or having to wipe out previous magic in the process of edits, bounces and all. If you feel "limited" by an ostensible track count of 24 or 32, why are you using a program that only offers that? Or why are you not availing yourselves of the use of multiple session files to prep submixes, super detailed work and all? Just a thought... from a guy who has yet to go past 20 tracks with an "elaborate" mix.

Re: Logic Forum, how to use - Protools Forum How to Fix
If we are going to compare applications then we should keep it to LE and Logic, not TDM vs. Logic. Does anyone think that I don't know what LE stands for, really? What does that have to do with anything? Yes great recordings are done with much less than 32 or even 24 tracks. As technology changes, it changes how we work. That would be like saying you don’t need a computer because you could do perfectly good writing on a typewriter. They both accomplish the same end result; just one gives so much more power and options to get the job done.
The track count depends on the system and hard drives you are using. Keep in mind that I am comparing apples to apples on my machine. The obvious point to this is for those that want the features that I have discussed for their recording needs. If you don’t need it, then why worry about it. But if you are like me and desire great performance from your application, then you need to know what I am experiencing. I have been on both sides of the bandwagon and can speak for both sides with experiences. Froyo, I respect most of your opinions, you are usually objective. I appreciate the comment about staying focused and I will try to do that in the future. I should have created another post when the subject shifted.
