Default Digitranslator Info Needed ASAP

I need to know if Digitranslator can import mix automation from an Avid that I can apply to rebuilt cues in ProTools, so that the picture editor won't have to remix every alternate I build.
If so what version of Protools do I need, etc?
I can import OMF files from the Avid, without Digitranslator, but only as a PT 4.0 session and I don't want to have a session for every cue. I'm not sure the automation is imported as well or if it is, if it follows the associated regions which I do not want. If anyone has any experience with this, I'd appreciate some tips before Digi opens in the morning.
I'm using 5.1.1 on a Mix Plus system (Mac), but I have the updates through 5.1.3cs8. Also if this is doable, where can I buy this in Burbank tomorrow?
Thanks and a brew,
Scott

Hi!

Clip volumes from the avid translate to PT5 via digitranslator 1.0. keyframes (rubberbanding volume curves) don´t.

frank.

Digitranslator 2.0 can import clip-based gain or keyframe automation from Avid. For keyframe to come through, I believe the Avid needs to be version 10 or higher. Clip-based should work with any version. While Avid can do up to 12 dB of gain, only the first 6 dB will be translated into the Pro Tools session. Make sure to import the OMF into Pro Tools via File>Import Tracks (or Import Session Data in Pro Tools 6.0 and higher) so that you get the gain options (ignore, apply distructively, or convert to automation). And, make sure that "Ignore keyframe gain" is not checked.

Hello. Hey Digidesign Tech Support, this is about the third time in a I have seen you (not you personally but Tech Support) respond to a question about DigiTranslator and/or OMF in the last 7 to 10 days. You have failed to mention in every case the upcoming AAF support in the new DigiTransaltor version coming up in June. Believe me, anybody that remotely deals with OMF needs this info. I'm not complaining or bitching you out. It's just surprising to me that you have not jumped at the very obvious chance to promote a very useful and obscenely overdue feature. Now let's everybody stop using OMF and say hi to AAF!!

P.S. Here's to hoping it actually works!

Froyo is correct. Pro Tools 6.1 (expected this summer) with Digitranslator will include AAF support.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Thanks Jordan,
Here's what I did today before attempting to purchase Digitranslator.
I upgraded from 5.1.1 to 5.1.3, then I imported an OMF file (using only OMF Tool 2.xx) and all the volume automation was there. I was able to copy and paste the automation to a new track that I built for the same scene, same length. Bounced to Disk and brought it back into the session I was working in. Just like any audio file. Everything seems fine and I'll deliver it to the picture editor tomorrow. Are there any limitations that are going to surprise me? I think for my needs, this is going to work without Digitranslator.
Again, I want to make it so the pict editor won't have to remix this with the sound on the show. I don't need any surprises at this point.
At this time I don't know the specs on the Avid being used, but I'll inquire tomorrow. I know the assistant is using an older version and he is the one doing most of the transfers.
Thanks to everyone,
_Scott
