My 20 year old SSL FX G384 comp still works with Pro Tools 11 and so does my 50 year old Neumann mic.
A computer product should be no different that any other price of hardware.
Avid should support old hardware - it would show a commitment to it's customers.

Exactly. Avid is wrong. There is no reason to debate it. Drivers need to be delivered. If a product is old and still delivers quality results , it is even a better reason to continue to support and repair it. This is especially true with music equipment.. The best sounding and most expensive ones are the vintage that have proven through longevity to be kings. ex. Martin, gibson guitars, fender and marshall amps, baldwin pianos etc...
