Default Finally!! Tool selection of the exact tool you want!

No longer do I need to waste time or be frustrated by the tools cycling through all the alternative tool selections. For example I can select the Trim tool without needing to cycle past the T/C and loop modes of that tool. No longer do I accidentally start to process audio due to a T/C trim mis clik and need to wait for dialog boxes to stop accidental moves. No longer do I need to go to a menu selection to "flatten" the "looped" region that becomes a completely new type of audio region because I accidentally selected "loop" trim. (the tool that still has NEVER been used in any studio I have ever worked in... yet is selected about 3,000 times a day by mistake)
...
Oh.. Wait... Im dreaming...

How is this still not dealt with?
Yet again, an update for Pro Tools that doesnt include a fix for the MOST ANNOYING DESIGN FLAW IN PROFESSIONAL AUDIO!!!

Why... why?

Just don't hit the relevant tool selector if it's already selected!

Pay attention to which tool is selected.

Not true!
If you work for film and edit dialogs, you must know how annoying this tool is!
It's one of the most buggy things in PT. Only fixing this bug would make me buy PT8.

Its not a bug, just a thing you do not like.

I have edited tons and tons of dialogue and never had a issue with what you describe.
That being said, i have of course made the mistake ones or twice..
but not even enough times that i would say its a design "bug"

Maybe its you workflow/edit style you should look at ?

How is it a bug?

A bug is something which either does not work, or does not work how it was intended to.

The tool selector does neither of those.

It happens when you work with select tool, than going to grab tool, than trim tool...oops instead of trim tool it becomes TC/E tool or Trim Loop. Just move the cursor over the region and...here we go it becomes a regular trim again.
No multi-tool selected. Why??? It's not intended to work this way. Therefor it's a bug. My workflaw is by using short cuts F5-F8.

It would be nice if you could lock these other tools you don't need. Just like command-click on shuffle-mode.
Or to have in a menu with a right-click... ohwait: that's already working with PT8! Click here for screendump

Just tested the way you describe it.

At my system Pro Tools HD 8.0.1 it works the way you might expect it to work.. select tool - grab tool - trim tool... i've used the apple F4-3-2 shortcut
to enter the tools..

Maybe you wanna update ?

There is no debating that this is something that needs to be addressed.
