Default Change Note Help

Hi All,

There was recently a thread on various programs people are using to execute a conform using change note files from the avid or FCP. I have searched and searched and cannot find the thread. The programs I know about are Titan, Change Note Assistant, and Virtual Katy but someone mentioned a really inexpensive one (around $99) I think. Does anyone know of any other programs that do this or can you point me to that thread? It would be greatly appreciated. Especially any suggestions specifically from music editors as that's what this will be used for.

Thanks for any input.

Hi Ginger

Check out Etitrace(www.editrace.com) the software is free to download but you upload edls to create the change list and pay per list. I have used it on many projects with great success.

the one you are thinking of is Conformer- It can be found at www.slothsound.com.

It works pretty well but does not have all the features of Change Note Assistant.

That´s a great hint! It looks very much like CNA. Do you know what the downsides are. Since CNA is 8 times more expensive, I wasx wondering. They seem to de exactly the same thing as far as I can tell.

Frank.

Frank-
the unique features have a bullet •, one thing that is not mentioned on their websites, is that CNA will park any lifts that are no longer a part of a sequence at the end of the session (about 1000ft after the end of the list. Conformer just deletes that material

CNA Features:
• 1- directly import change note files generated by Avid FilmScribe and Final Cut Pro 4
• 2- view change notes in footage or frame-accurate SMTPE timecode
3- Optimizes lists by combining consecutive inserts and deletions
4- print or save 'Simplified' change notes
• 5- convert change notes into EDLs or HTML
• 6- supports multi-reel/track change notes
7- single version works in both OS9 and OSX

Conformer Features:
1- Imports change lists from Avid editing systems
2- Optimizes lists by combining consecutive inserts and deletions
3- Applies changes to an open Pro Tools session, either manually or automatically
4- Imports lists in Feet+Frames
5- Skips over redundant changes ("scene swaps")
6- Handles inserts, deletes, trims, and moves
7- Allows*you to conform an entire list or part of one
• 8- Includes a "remote window" that floats over the Pro Tools application
allowing you to manually conform tracks interactively
9- Supports Mac OS 9 and OS X
10-Supports Pro Tools TDM version 5.x and 6.x as well as DV Toolkit

I have used both programs a fair amount, and they are quite good and absolutely a lifesaver if you deal with film change notes.

Thank you!
I also read now that conformer will stop or even skip changes when there is a fade under a cut because PT will pop up a message or something.

Frank.
