Default Waves GUI problem after installing 2022.10

Hello everyone!

After I installed this new version, all my WAVES plugins appeared very small inside a red window of the real plug in window size.

See pics to understand better! Any help will be appreciated, thanks a lot!

Im on MBP 16 inch 2019 Catalina 10.15.7

Graphics anomalies "especially with multiple monitors" are the main reason I uninstalled all my Waves products.

No issues here, I'm on Waves 14 platinum w/ PT 2022.10, no issues here. Catalina is a bit down rev, what version of Waves are you on? You said you just updated... did you check a compatibility chart to see if was compatible with your OS?

Old version of Waves??

I use many waves V14 plugs and have never seen that with PT 2022.10 and macOS 12.6.1.

I use Waves 11, maybe that's the problem? Or maybe just updating the OS?
Thanks for your answers!

This seems to be a retina/scaling issue. The plugin window size is scaled up, the waves content within the window is not.

yes that's likely the problem: waves 11 is not compatible with PT 2022.10

I was running Platinum. I run 5 monitors, 3 over the console and 2 over the MIDI station. This requires 3 graphics cards. All other Plug-ins are fine with this setup. Only Waves offers the bonus of GUI corruption.

I'm sure the vast number of users won't see this, (at least not commonly) but it does hint to a vulnerability somewhere in the code.

This has been reported to them, and they have conceded that this issue exists, but the fix would be to involved to address at the time.

Hi All,

Although I am now using W11, there may be an equivalency scenario for Mac so, I thought I better chime in since something potentially similar caused my EQ (emotional intelligence quotient in this case) to tilt on my previous W10 outfit.

Long story short, look for other software on your computer that may have to do with 3D Audio or gaming software and try to prevent that from running to see if it resolves the issue. In my case, specifically stopping the Nahimic Service fixed my issue. Others with similar issues with plugins in other DAWs have indicated that they could actually run Nahimic if they uninstalled a Realtek Audio Sonic package.

Please note that I have (2) 4K monitors connected and was using a GeForce 3080 at the time.

The symptoms of my issue were characterized by the following:
1. Only some Waves V14 plugins and Sample Tank 4 would not render properly like in your screen shots. In some cases, the plugin windows would be blank or white. I could then not even close those plugins as Pro Tools would hang when I would try to close them and I would need to force quit.

2. In other cases, instantiating one of the plugins with a conflict such as Eiosis or Fabfilter would not work but only if I moved them or if I opened them in my right-hand monitor. (I typically use Edit Window left-hand Monitor, Mix Window right-hand Monitor).

If I opened them and closed them in my left-hand monitor, there was no problem. If I opened them and dragged the plugin window to the right-hand monitor over my Mix Window the plugin would not allow me to change the EQ in Fabfilter for example and Pro Tools would just hang when I would try to close it.

By luck one of the workarounds I found prior to stopping the Nahimic Service was to first instantiate a working plugin in my primary right-hand monitor and then open a problematic one in the same right hand monitor. this process impacted my workflow but at least it allowed me to open and use the plugin. However, it only worked as well as my execution and in some cases I lacked discipline. LOL

Here is an example of the impact in other DAWs:

https://forums.steinberg.net/t/plugi...7841/34?page=2

This workaround does not address the root cause but for me it was well enough to get the plugins working properly. Hope this may help you to find a similar workaround for your Mac.
