Default Why is PT 2020 not located under "applications " ?

Is there a reason, why PT 2020 insists on living in the documents folder rather than in the applications folder ? I moved it over manually and since then I had two versions of the program because it immediately located another copy under documents. Why is that ?

There is a "Pro Tools" folder that's created on install and lives in the documents folder - it contains all the user-specific resources (plug in settings/maps, I/O settings, documentation, etc, etc), but the actual Pro Tools app lives in Applications as it's supposed to - if it doesn't on your system then something is wrong with the install.

^^^ yep you have likely just gotten yourself confused. You need to be looking carefully for the location of “Pro Tools.app” not just any folder called “Pro Tools”.

Start by setting the Finder to show file type extensions. Google how to if not sure.

If in doubt in Terminal:

$ find / -name “Pro Tools.app” -type d -print

Will find all likely “Pro Tools.app” apps.

All good .I failed to find the app because I was looking for it in the avid folder under applications....that's where it used to be. I didn't look for the stand alone pro tools app in applications. But now I found it.
