Included ProTools - Subscriiption or perpetual?

on the Avid site it says that you get a "Pro Tools Studio 1-year subscription". while on the Sweetwater site it says it's a "free Pro Tools Studio Perpetual License".

so what is it?

Just read this in another post:

"And one heads-up to everyone. On my Avid Account, under MBox Studio, I see "Perpetual Product" on the left. However on the right I see "Your Plan Expires on Sept 6, 2025". (one year). I called Sweetwater. They said it was a mistake. I then reached out to Avid thru a drop down text box. Larry at Avid said no, PT Studio does NOT expire in one year. That refers to the support plan as well as updates. After a year, Pro Tools will still function, just no more updates or support."

so this is just like the PT Studio that I already have.

FWIW, I always recommend folks buy from a retailer like Sweetwater, instead of direct from Avid. The after-sales support is just plain better.

There is a promotion running until the end of this year that makes the license perpetual, outside of that it is supposed to be a subscription.

As already stated, buy from a dealer, call and talk to their sales reps if needed.

Got it yesterday and set it up. so far so good... it sounds great just playing tunes and PT through it. I also played a little bass into it and it sounds great. looking forward to doing some recording and digging into the Control setup.

one note tho - on the Mac the MBOX Control app is installed into the Applications folder, not Avid. you will need to run it AND install the firmware update to use the box - of course this requires an internet connection! just so you know...
