Default Multiple playlists at once?

Just wondered whether there is a way to create multiple playlists at once?

In preparation before recording voice over, I create approx.15-30 playlist for the artist. At the moment, I always have to repeat "create new/duplicate playlist" 15 to 30 times, to get a total of 15 to 30 playlists. So, is there a way to tell Pro Tools to create multiple playlists at once?

Thanks for any reply, even if it's a "no, not possible"!

Tim

Go through it once and save the session. go to the "get info" of the session file and make it a stationary pad file. Now you have a template.

Hi,

If I'm understanding you correctly, you can just put your tracks in a goup and the playlists will change all at once.

If you select all the tracks you want a new playlist on, then hold down Shift + Option and select New Playlist from the pop-up menu, that's another way to create multiple playlists. That's how I do it anyway...

Thanks guys,
but I need the playlist on one track (therefore the group idea would not work). I also need the proper name of the artist on the track, so creating a template wouldn't work.

Thanks for all your suggestions, I'll just have to carry on creating these playlists one by one. Maybe it could be a small new featrue for an update.

The template still should work.. Just make the template while the name on the track is still BLANK. Then everytime you open that template all you have to do is change the name of the track(s)...

But that is still better than having to make ALL the playlists everytime, AND name 'em too... This way all you have to do is name 'em !!

Hi Tim, I'm guessing you want the track named after the artist so that the audio files on the HD will be easily identifiable. If that is what you are trying to do, I may have an idea. You can set up a template session with a track named something like VO with a bunch of playlists with corresponding numbers. Then, once you are finished with the session for the day, just select all the regions starting with VO in the regions bin and use the "auto rename" feature to rename all the regions at once.

Obviously slightly late, but good for people with the same question;

option-shift-down arrow while selecting a clip, copy-pastes the clip to a new playlist. You can spam this shortcut 30 times to create 30 playlists.

A trick for the naming is, this shortcut uses the clip name for the playlist name, so you can consolidate a piece of empty space and rename it "Bob take". First track it creates will be "Bob take" and if you keep going it will add numbers: "Bob take.01", "Bob take.02", etc
