OT: HDCAM SRW 5500 layback problems (latency!)
we recently acquired an SRW 5500 the other day and i yesterday i did my first layback with the machine.
i believe i am seeing a 4 frame latency on the LTC output of the deck... here is my setup. Evertz Tri-Level Sync Feeding SRW5500, Blackburst (in phase with tri-level) feeding Pro Tools 5.1 AES/EBU Output from Pro Tools to SRW5500 Pro Tools chases 23.98 LTC from deck Pro Tools locked to Video Reference Pro Tools Session not pulled down... When i do a layback, i found everything to be about 4 frames late. I thought there was some sort of input processing delay on the deck initially. But then I output tone using a signal generator and made edit points on the deck to match the bars on tape. Performed my insert edit and the tone was right on where it should be. So now I'm thinking that the LTC output must be funny, because why else would there be a latency when I'm chasing the deck, when the deck is recording to the proper in/out points on the tape? Has anyone else had similar experiences they can share? Thanks, Matt |

Matt - why is your PT session not PULL DOWN if your frame rate is 23.98?
