You do not need to do clean uninstalls with v11. When you first launch v11.0.2, it will automagically replace any components that shipped with v11.0.x.

Thanks...but why do they put this (below) on the info and download page?

Avid recommends uninstalling your current version of Pro Tools prior to installing 11.0.2.

Probably a holdover from v10 and earlier where you should always do a clean uninstall first. I'll forward this to a super-admin.

The language was changed to apply to PT 11 so it's not a simple holdover. I'm certain that Avid will still officially recommend an uninstall of any previous version to help weed out any upgrade weirdness, just as they've always recommended. They should include an uninstaller OR directions for manually uninstalling (which is a breeze) if they're going to continue to suggest uninstalling. It has confused many people and this question comes up a lot.

The uninstaller is in your Applications/Avid/Protools Utilities folder.

We're referring to ProTools 11, not 10.

That was unnecessary. Respondents are just trying to help you, you know. Someone might point out that you hadn't done your due diligence before asking the question.

This link has your answer, and is the very first result of a Google search for "uninstall pro tools 11".

The emoticon is the reason for the response. Without that it could have been an honest attempt to help.

Thanks for your input, though.
