One Year Anniversary of the Davec Test?

Is today the formal one year anniversary of the original post of what is now known as the davec test? One of better threads over the last 12 months in my opinion. Anyone want to take advantage of the calendar to construct a new, improved benchmarking test for the next 12 months? Or should we leave well enough alone?

So it is! Happy Birthday dave_c test!

Certainly that thread has done a lot to move this whole environment forward over the last year. There are things it tests quite well, and some things that it doesn't really test at all. It would be fun, I think, to see if we could come up with something newer and improved.

However, nothing will truly replace it!

That IS cool, but to be honest, I would just leave it as is. Sometimes it's cool to go way back and check this or that in a topic. Just my opinion.

My vote goes towards keeping the dave_c test "as is" because it's been the standard for so long, and we have an excellent "historical record" of system benchmarks as a reference...
