I'm not literally stuck, of course. It's just that my hands, eyes, and brain are so used it that the cost of moving to another DAW is greater than the potential gains. That's what I meant by "intertwined with my DNA." I no longer have to think about how to do things. In fact, when someone asks me how to do something in PT, I can't tell them without sitting down in front of a computer and watching myself do it. It's second nature. The cost of leaving that behind is extremely high.

I personally recommend Avid Protools for recording audio and Avid Media composer for video editing.

I buy new computers every 3-5 years and I am ok with the yearly subscription.
I really don't want a vintage computer, just maybe just vintage microphones and preamps.

It's today's equivalent of a 2" 24 track recorder until something dramatically better forces people to switch in order to get work.

After being on Pro Tools since version 7 I’m letting my Ultimate plan lapse in July. I’m about 98% switched over to Luna. Besides a few things I need from Pro Tools it works well for me and the development is super quick. I much rather pay for add-ons to Luna then spend $399 a year for basically nothing.

I am in the same boat as you are. Although Luna is a new Recording System, it has most of the standard DAW features that I require and UA is adding new user-requested features at breakneck speed. I very much like Luna’s dedication to building analog emulation into the program.

In addition, I do mot believe that that I receive enough value to justify paying Avid the annual support cost for ProTools. So, I will not be renewing this year. Therefore, I do mot recommend ProTolls to others.
