Default DIGI SUPPORT - Is a new ASIO driver for Cubase and The 001 in the pipeline?

Digi Support - Is a new ASIO driver for Cubase and the 001 in the pipeline?

I've been looking into using Cubase with my 001 and according to people I've spoken to on this forum the latency is so severe that a new ASIO driver is needed.

I know you can use an external mixer to solve some of the issues but you can't solve the soft synth latency or microphone straight into the 001 latency like this. So it sounds pretty important.

Hope to hear from you soon about this.

Isnt it actually steinberg that makes the patch to use cubase on the 001?or is it digi(?).cause i know you download it on steinbergs websight. So, that would lead one to think this may not be digi's fault.steinberg should be able to write software that works with the 001.its their job, not digi's.

btw, you may not have some these problems with logic audio(?) and the 001.Also some of these things are fixable.you can help latency by using a mixer that has its own power source.you can get something like motu's fastlane midi interface if the midi's latency is a problem.and lastly invest in some good outboard gear.

This is the difference between tdm and a host based system. If latency is too extreme using plug in efx and vst instruments try instead to do some of this with outboard gear.I guess there are low latency soundcards on the market now with built in dsp's.so maybe there are ways to supplement the cubase/001 setup to deal with this latency a little.

also check this place out:
www.bayviewproaudio.com
they have the best prices.maybe youd prefer a delta, or motu interface instead.

It'd still be good to have Digi's comments so I'm putting this thread back on top.

Yeah, and at the risk of flogging a dead horse, I'll add my rock to the pile. Digi, what's up? Is there another driver in the works, or am I switching interfaces?

Because really, I'd rather fight than switch.

Digi Tech Support, where are you?
Several of us have been asking a very simple question for four days now (see the two other associated threads, one from the 10th and one from the 7th): is there, or is there not, a new ASIO driver in the works to enable the DIGI001 to work better with cubase? A simple yes or no will do. I need to know whether to wait for a better driver, or whether I'm going to have to sell my card. Aren't a few registered customers worth 5 damn seconds of your time? C'mon, yes or no?

The current ASIO driver was written by Steinberg, but can be used with other software. (available with instructions in our Download/Utilities, Third-Party Files & Links section). All of our hardware ships with Pro Tools software. Software support using another company's software would need to come from that company. (in this case, Cubase)

Digidesign does provide the Direct I/O Software Developer Kit, now at version 3, to companies that wish to develop support for Digidesign hardware using their software.

Thanks, finally, for that answer.

Basically, the answer is "no". I could swear that the last driver came from Digi. Oh well, I must be misremembering. The people at Steinberg don't seem to be working on one either. This means that I am probably going to have to switch interfaces. Digi, isn't it in your best interest to come up with drivers to let your hardware work better with as many different platforms as possible? That's a lot of potential sales- without the latency problem, the Digi is a great interface, and you could sell a lot more of them. I don't get it. OK, I solemnly swear to stop posting on this subject.

I don't know if you can say the definitive answer is "No".

Steinberg developed the current ASIO/Direct I/O driver and have it on their web site. Maybe we need to ask Steinberg the same question. All this tells me is that DIGI isn't working on the driver - but Steinberg would be the one developing it. If you have a response already from Steinberg, then that WOULD be telling...

Hi Larry! Long time no see!

OK, I'll try again over there.....I could swear that they told me that it was digi who would have to come up with a new one....but I could be misremembering. I'll post it again on the C. site, and come back if I get any better news.
