Default Plug-in Delay Compensation

Seems this is only available in the HD version of Pro Tools (came standard on even the entry-level Cubase but hey ho).

So does anybody have any neat fixes to hold back or push forward a particular track for a few milliseconds? - I can't be the only one needing this function?

Just recorded some vocals but by the time I'd processed them and loaded the final edits into a session, they were lagging behind the track a bit.

Anyone?

Cheers.

There are 112 work arounds & a ADC plug all over the forum... & just curious, did u track the vocals @ a high buffer rate w/LLM on or a plug a Master fader?

Go here:

http://www.screencast.com/users/peed...ders/tutorials

Watch all the videos..

This will show you the "proper" way to manually compensate for delay..

Note that Peeder does not recommend sliding tracks around.

I tracked the vocals at the highest bitrate the computer would allow me ... 1 stereo track of the song (mixed-down) for reference and then a mic.

So that's 1 stereo and 1 audio track with no effects.

I added a touch of Antares to the vocal and exported and it's annoyingly lagging.

I looked at the manual first, then the forum and I couldn't find a definite answer.

I wonder if there's anything more annoying than this? - it's been said a thousand times but flipping heck put a switch in there ... there's everything else.

Great - thanks for this Flommer it's about the 15th time you've helped me on this forum it is appreciated.

I didn't dare open the quantize up then start manually clicking to the left

Auto tune? That has no latency so I don't understand why u'd get that... OK, I see u said u just have the stereo ref of the track so u obviously bounced it down or som'n from the original session which u say was mixed down, so that's what I'm sayin; Did that session have any thing on a master fader when u mixed it down? Did u print it back in PT & export, or just import that file in the new session? & ACTUALLY, re-reading ur post, u said u track the vocal @ the HIGHEST bitrate the computer would allow so that sorta makes all my questions null & void...

Yeah, interesting point on the Autotune there ... when I turn it on (as an insert on the vocal track) - that's what causes a slight delay. Now I've used AT before and it didn't seem to do that.

I don't have anything clever set up here, just the stereo mix for ref. and a vocal channel.

At least it's 'all' slightly lagging ... just on with that video now I'm at the exciting bit discovering that there is a DLY button in the fader.

Nearly at the end now

Oh, I see - you delay every other track except the vocal track.

Hmmm.

H/W Buffer of 512 (started to break-up at 256)

2 Processors 'on' (dual-core G5)

CPU Usage Limit '90%' (max.)

Playback 1500ms (which is all I can get out of my rig)

So this is usually cock-on, except AT knocked it out a bit.

Thatz pretty high for tracking but u can only track as allowed of course... Still leaves me with the other questions I asked (I know I said otherwise, but) still would like to know... those could be some other culprits if u noticed this when importing the vocals in the original session...
