Default Bye Bye Eleven Rack

Hello guys,

Sold my 11R this morning.

A few weeks ago I had an opportunity to purchase a AXE FX II at a price I couldn't miss.
Plus, here the 2nd hand 11 Racks still sell at at price higher than a new one in the States...
I was also very disapointed by the general attitude of Avid towards its consummers/clients, to say the less...

Anyway, I want to thank Benoni and all the nice people on this forum who helped and share their experience. And the Chimp, "Chris who's gone" etc.
Good luck to you all !

No need to leave. You can always post songs using your new Axe FX and if you are still using PT and need to ask a question, someone will be here to help.

Please do.

For all the great things I've heard about the Axe FX, I've yet to hear anyone post something they've recorded with it.

Best of luck.

I made the move awhile back, and I have could not be happier. Also switched from ProTools to Reaper, which has been working out pretty darn well for me!

I bought mine when v9.0 was out, and v10 has made the amps even more organic, IMO. I have been fiddling around with some of the new IRs from OwnHammer as well, which area really nice. Now that Axe-Edit is out, I have got to the point where I can throw together fairly complex patches rather quickly. I love the scenes function, gives me 8 true gapless switching "scenes" within one patch, which has moved me from thinking about "patches" to thinking about a whole "rig" for a particular song/gig.

Last night I threw together one patch that had a JTM45 (for clean), a 5153 blue (for slight dirt), a 5153 red (for heavy rhythm) and a Friedman HBE (for lead, I LOVE this amp). The 3 dirt amps were going into a stereo cab using 2 OwnHammer impulse responses, whike the JTM was going into one of the pre-mixed Fractal cabs. I had one reverb for some slight "room" feel (in series). I also had in parallel: CE2 chorus, analog delay, big room reverb for effect, and a pitch shifter (up a 5th, up an octave, in stereo). All this is contained in one patch, and the levels are super easy to balance. I used to tear my hair out trying to get everything just right in the ElevenRack (balancing levels, using the FX loop etc). The AxeFXII is really a paradigm shift.

I liked the 11R, but I honestly feel there's nothing it can do with regard to amp tones that the Axe cannot do at least as well, and when it comes to high gain, it's nowhere near the same league in terms of versatility (Diezel/Marshall/Mesa/5150 tones at the drop of a hat). The Friedman amps are absolutely to die for as well...

All in all, I doubt you will be disappointed :) Almost all the amps sound amazingly usable right off the bat when paired with a matching cab. The rest is just icing on the cake... but who doesn't love icing

Some of my AxeII tracks:

I am the one who knocks
Champagne
Bastard
Hands around the throat
Track0ne
Slow Grind

Thanks for the kind words guys.

@adamqlw : I've just scratched the surface, had mine a week or two before the V10 update. I must say I'm very impressed by the sounds of raw amps, the dynamics and the precision of the different settings possibilities. If you like to tweak (and I do), possibilities seem limitless. And I wasn't sold from the start, just thought I could try and sell it with no loss if I didn't like it.
The effects are amazing, too...
There is realy a huge improvement with the new firmware, and since then a few bugs have already been addressed...
Now the "problem" is that it sound so good that I often spend hours with one model instead of going further with others. Lots of fun to come...
