Also interested in some more details. Could you post some screenshots to your io window, and your session?

Hello everyone!

I finally found time to do this test.

All versions of the mix are on the link, where everyone can see for themselves their conclusions.

My conclusions at the end of the post. For the purity of the experiment, please check yourself first

The experimental song is the well-known Scorpions track - "No One Like You".
There are 5 stereo stems 24bit 48000Hz:

01-01 Drums-consolidated.wav
02-02 Bass-consolidated.wav
03-03 Guitar-consolidated.wav
04-04 Vocals-consolidated.wav
05-05 Additional Instruments-consolidated.wav

Stems were imported into Pro Tools session 32bit 48000Hz and all mixes respectively in the same resolution. All mixes were bounced by ONLINE.

Now the details and settings:

The mix "ONE Master Bus.wav" file is the result of standard routing, when all tracks are directed to one master bus.
Edit window:

Bounce settings

Next "mix One AUX bus.wav" file is the result of passing all stems through the one aux.

Finally, "mix MULTI Master One OUT.wav" is the result of mixing through 5 buses aimed at the same output. In this case, I always had a feeling of "freer transients", transparency and stereo width.

Edit

IO

Conclusions
My results disappointed me a little. I suspected it would be so.
The difference that I (apparently not only me) hear in fact is psychological self-deception. I put all these mixes on a zero test and got ZERO output, and absolute zero.
It's a pity that you have to admit that you wishful thinking.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

And now a bonus and a little pleasant from the world of transformers.
There is also "(bonus) mix MULTI Out GLENSOUND.wav" in the folder. This is the result of analog summing through Glensound GSTX14C
I took it to this test and not only.

There are input transformers on each of the 16 stereo lines, as well as another one on the master bus.
The result is more than obvious. Both in loudness and saturation and how the transition processes take place.

This sounds super strange as the sound doesn’t change on a AUX/BUS.

Have never ever had this problem with sound in my 15-16 years of very high selling popstar productions and with all kinds of high end interfaces aswell as our HDX3 system in one of our studio rooms.

As soon as I start bussing and routing through aux busses, it’s like the transients get smeared. Punch is gone and the stereo field seems narrower.

I agree and would have to see/hear a null test, which would be easy to do and certainly clarify if there is any actual merit, And it appears (if I am understanding correctly) when the OP null tested there was zero sound so,, no difference ....
