Default Intro to Artist?

I have Intro installed right now. If I buy Artist will I have to remove Intro, download again, and reinstall to get Artist?

Good question, but no, all versions of Pro Tools from Intro to Ultimate use the same installer, the difference you see is all due to the license key.

^^ this.

Greatest new feature from PT|First is that now there is only one installer. License determines what features you have.

But what about the difference in available plugins? Will the delta just now be visible where they weren't before?

You can compare the versions here.

You should manually install any additional plugins you want from your MyProducts download section for that Artist product version. When you upgrade to the Artist subscription license it will include additional plugin licenses covering all those additional plugins.

Most of the plugins you saw before are ‘core’ plugins that are distributed as a part of Pro Tools. For everything else think separate installers, and lots of them from Avid and third parties as you add more plugins. I sure recommend you install plugins manually… just download and run each installer. Do this manually, do not use Avid Link to try to install the plugins in Pro Tools. Many of us uninstall that unreliable software each time we install Pro Tools.
