Default Quicktime Pro Replacement for Audio Channel Mapping?

For a particular client, I need to output my stereo mix as discrete mono tracks (L & R) then in Quicktime Pro add the R channel to the L and change the channel mapping to be L Total and R Total and export as a .mov file.

Other times I need to output 5.1 and LtRt as an 8 channel file. This works fine in ProTools, but I then need to use Quicktime Pro to assign channels 7&8 as Lt and Rt.

This process works, but Quicktime Pro is the only program stopping me from updating my Mac OS. It will not run on newer OS, but it is the only program I know to easily change the channel mapping. I am stuck with OS 10.13.6. If I update, I won't be able to use QuickTime Pro.

Does anyone have another solution for this?

Hi, welcome to the community.

Apple Compressor (that comes with Final Cut Pro) should do it just as easily, but to my knowledge it is not scriptable like QTpro used to be..

I'm not sure if there is an alternative. IIRC that is just Quicktime specific Metadata, i.e. just a channel label. It's really not used much anymore. Maybe someone here knows of a utility that can write that QT compatible metadata? For me the final deliverables are handled downstream from audio. IMF container with video, audio, timecode etc with metadata.

Are you using a stereo mix or an actual LtRt? I would not label as such if it's not.

some of this might be possible with shutter encoder? ( using the replace audio function? )

it might be a slightly different process. you would 'add the L and R' to a movie rather than the R to the left - which might mean exporting clips as files in protools ( so a bit more clearing up afterwards ) or consolidating but flipping settings

perhaps fiddly - but doable?

You could also look at Video Sync pro - I am using that also.

I switched to Telestream Switch years ago as a QT Pro replacement. There are a few versions of Switch, but even the cheapest one has some great features:
