Default Is Strike really this hard to use?

I've wanted to ask this for awhile, as maybe i just don't understand how to use Strike, or i'm too hung up on EZDrummer. However, with EZDrummer, i am able to find drum pattern i like, and drag it (midi) into track ... do same with fills ... etc ...
However, my understanding is with STRIKE, its not midi really, so essentially i find my pattern i like, and record it live/in the moment as audio? My challenge with that is, its basically like my Roland DR Rhythm (ancient ) in that respect, is that i have to then switch to new pattern at chorus, then insert a fill in certain spots, etc ... ALL ON THE FLY!

Is that right or am i not doing it right? And does anyone else find this "limiting" and somewhat hard to do well as you are building a song?

appreciate it

Strike's really easy to use... once you get your head wrapped around it.

It uses MIDI notes to trigger the patterns. So you can record (or draw in with the Pencil tool) MIDI notes that essentially say "start playing this pattern now, and keep playing it until I tell you to do something different".

You may want to search for some video tutorials to see it in action. Here's one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpT04-9xz2o

+1,,,, Not only easy, but great program for me and the way I work. After a little toying around with it of course!

Just like sample triggering, Strike Pattern triggering is the same. For Pro Tools to playback Strike, Pro Tools Timeline needs a Note Start trigger and a Gate at the pitch that corresponds with the desired Strike Pattern. Thus the combination of these note starts and gates forms a performance that in turn can be Bus Recorded.
