Those who know what (isn't) coming are more than likely bound by an NDA from saying anything. Why not just go to AES?

It's the long awaited PT 7 software, no new hardware as far as I know.

And I'm guessing Massive Pack buyers will have to pay for upgrades for all their newly purchased plugins in order to run the next version of PT. Interesting timing if it turns out to be true. 'Here's some cheap plugins you can use for a month'. But...I may be wrong about that.

Pro Tools 7 is the only thing I have been able to find out about for sure. I know the Mbox 2 isn't anything to get excited about but I'm still surprised they didn't just wait a month before they announced it. That kinda makes me think they will have some sort of new hardware to show off. Below is a quote from Digi about AES and it sounds interesting.

Quote:
Digidesign will be unveiling some great new products at this year’s Audio Engineering Society (AES) Convention at the Javits Convention Center in New York City on October 7-10. Digidesign will showcase ICON and VENUE systems with daily demos, provide hands-on training classes, and host white paper discussions. If you’re in the area, come by!

I'm praying that Digi steps up, comes correct and introduces a fully Giga-compatible SampleCell 3. PLEEEEEEEEEZZZZZEEEEEE.

I don't think Digidesign takes AES as seriously as the leading DAW manufacturer should. They always announce new hardware at some conference they hold in Europe at about this time (IBC?). AES has ended up being the place where new software gets announced. The only new hardware to debut at AES in the last few years AFAIK is MOJO (last year), and I think the only reason that happened is because of the V10 for OS X debacle.

Hardware cycles seem to be down to January, April, and September. Software cycles appear to be NAB and AES.

In a way that makes sense ... IBC is about 10 times the size of AES and has about the same importance compared to aes. At least for the post and broadcast industry over here in europe.

I believe the current Accel Cards are 2 years young, Digidesign has repeatedly said there will be no Accel Core Card.
