Default os9 PT files show up in osx as unix files

I've recently recorded music in os 9.2.2, with PT 5.x?, and after which, I took the scsi drive to a studio that was running osx and copied the files to a pc formatted firewire 400 drive (with mac/pc compatibility forced.) Then worked on some of the files on a PC running XP, 001 and PT 6.4 (latest.) Now I have a powerbook g4, os 10.3.3, PT 6.2.3 and an mbox and the files are opening as unix files. Obviously something is not communication properly. Anyone have an idea? -- Thanks, B.

I am currently having the same problem, and I just came on to ask the exact same question. Session was done on 5.x in OS9, and everything was backed up to a FW drive. All the files show up as unix executables in OSX. I was able to add the '.pts' extension to the session and it could read the session, but not only is it impossible to add the extension to 400 audio files, when I try to open the file in QT, it says the "end of the file was reached prematurely". The file just won't plain open in other apps and the session doesn't recognize them as audio files, even if you try to import them.

I checked out the drive in disk utility and noticed that it was MS-DOS formatted, just like yours. I think that is what has screwed us both up. I'm going to try opening the files on an OS9 system at a friend's house, and I'll let you know how that works. Otherwise, if anybody knows a work around, please speak up.

Type.pts to the end of the of the file name. This will change it to a protools file.
