automation quit working on one chnl.. (solved)

I'm sitting here mixing a project and the automation decided to stop workin on one chnl... I rewrote it, but nothing! It does'nt move... every other chnl is fine. I'm using PT 7.3, 002R, C24... help quick. thanks, tim

Did you make sure the track's automation status is set to 'read' and hasn't accidentally been turned off?

oh yeah... read, touch, write, latch, off... everything... what I've done is copy the audio to a new track and that works. but why is automation still not working on the original track? I've had digi respond before to post.. thanks thought, I appreciate it. tim

Yeah, sometimes they do, sometimes they don't, I just wouldn't count on it or get upset if they don't respond - the tech support number/email are there for folks who actually want answers from Digi directly, but it's kind of a carp shoot as to whether or not they'll see anything directed at them on the DUC.

But anyway, back to the problem.... you might just have a corrupt session file. Have you tried creating a new session and importing the troubled track to see if that changes anything?

no have'nt... creating a new track and copying the audio into that new track has allowed me to have automation... still not on the original, but it will get me by... I'm in the last stages of mixing and it has to be done by Sat.. so this will get me by.. not sure how it got corrupted, I've been working on this session for a while... just strikes me as odd that the automation would not work at all.. thanks for the reply.. tim

Session corruption can cause strange behavior like that.

It looks like you're ok to go at this point, yes?

As for when we're here - usually only during the day (8a-5p) M-F PST, but that can vary depending on what were working on. While we're here to help, we mainly monitor to investigate any possible bugs that may be occurring. If we're doing investigation on those issues, we may not be here to monitor other issues. In all cases, there are far, far too many posts on the DUC for us to chime in on every one. If you're posting after business hours, it's extremely unlikely you'll get any reply until the next day, at the very earliest.

Hi,

It sounds like you have disabled volume automation, you can disabled
automation either globally, by parameter, or just on a fader.

Go to the menu item Windows>Show Automation Enable and make sure
globally suspend or the parameter you are automating is not disabled.

You can also disable automation on a per parameter per track basis by
setting the track view to the parameter for example Volume and
Command-Clicking on it. You can tell that it is disabled when it
looks grayed out. It sounds like this is what you have done. Please
check to make sure that the you have not inadvertently disable
automation on this track.
