Default Short graphics / system freeze PT 2018.12.0 Win 10 and Nvidia GT 1030

Hi. Similar to my post last year, I have been battling with a Pro Tools system I am trying to look after for a voiceover.

The issue is that the system suffers from brief occasional freezes of about 1-2 seconds (normally associated with when it is rendering something on the screen) which makes the edit process hard. His workflow is that he tidies up the recordings very quickly once they are recorded, adding fades to the start of each phrase and adjusting gain.

The system is based on a Lenovo M700 SFF PC with 16GB RAM, Two SSD (separate one for audio), Dedicated Nvidia GT 1030 GFX.

I accept it isn't the most powerful beast compared with those discussed on here, but for simple mono-track audio with a couple of plugins I feel it should cope fine. (maybe I'm wrong)

In some cases, when it is drawing the fader (for clip-gain) we get a black square before the fader is drawn about 1-2 seconds later as per the image attached. As the mouse is moved the gain appears to still change under the blacked out block.

Any ideas what may be happening under the hood would be appreciated. Let me know if I should supply a bit more info on the system.
