Pro Tools 9 with Apogee Ensemble doesn't work at 88.2k
Been on the phone with both Apogee and Avid tech support for hours/days and after trying just about everything, it still gets distorted digital noise.
Mac Pro 3,1 with 32GB RAM Updated Apogee firmware and Maestro Tried every audio set-up (Ensemble as well as Aggregate) Clean uninstall and Installed 9.0.2 from disk image etc... Does anyone here have a Apogee Ensemble with PT9? or have you encountered these same problems? It's been a week now. Apogee is pointing the finger at Avid. Avid is pointing the finger at Apogee. Losing my mind!!! |

By the way, Logic Pro works fine at 88.2

Why do you want to record at 88.2?

Re: Pro Tools 9 with Apogee Ensemble doesn't work at 88.2k
Ahh someone having issues with 88.2. Me too!!
I had distorted audio only though with my first MBOX pro. I have been through three of them for different issues. The distortion was random it would appear and a reboot was needed. I get DAE errors and disconnects way more than with my older 002 when using 88.2 There seems to be issues with 88.2 and PT 9 and perhaps firewire interfaces. Try this for fun. Make a session copy of your 88.2 session and output it to 96k also converting all the audio when exporting the session. I did this as a test and my mac worked great as the hardware for playback with absolutely no DAE errors. Macs don't support 88.2 for some strange reason with PT 9 which sucks only 44.1, 48 and 96k. I hope Avid fixes that. All my sessions are at 88.2. After I exported to 96k I then reconnected my mbox pro and it seemed more stable. If I got a dae error it would then continue to work and playback. At 88.2 it would get the DAE error and I would have to reboot everything to get the session to playback audio again. I have had some real problems at that sample rate with my new Mbox Pro and PT9. My older setup 002 and PT 8 yes I would get errors but then could keep working and playing the session now if it happens which it does a lot its a full reboot. I have spent countless hours messing about with this. Please let me know if you fix your issue, I may be switch my MBox Pro for the new duet 2. And you say 88.2 works with Logic Pro....very interesting indeed so it's Avid that for some cray reason is not allowing PT 9 to run at 88.2 when using the mac as your hardware. |

See also my post re RME @88.2. At first it was just when I had the motif spdif plugged into the RME but last night I got it without the motif plugged in, All kinds of distortion, loss of connection to the ff800, CPU overload with a minuscule session? 5 mono audio tracks
Digi errr I mean AVID? B
