Default Good Strings?

I am pretty new to PT, use PT8 M-Powered on Mac with OSX 10.6.8 64bit. I am finally feeling confident enough with the plugins that came with PT that I am looking to branch out. I would like to get a strings package that would include tympani too. I don't want to spend a ton of money, but am worth putting out enough to get something decent.

I am only using it for home stuff... nothing professional.

Thanks.

Whoa... that's a bit pricey. $500 per kit. Either that, or I am completely naive... which is very possible.

$500 is about mid range price for good string package.

There is also EWQL Symphonic Orchestra, which is great. I've also heard good things about IK Multimedia's Miroslav Philharmonik which is about half the price.

Keep in mind that most good string VI's (most good sample driven VI's for that matter), are painstakingly sampled from real instruments played by professional musicians recorded by talented engineers in world-class studios/performance halls. If you want quality, you gotta pay for it.

Ahh, yes!

Hope the being behind isn't entirely your fault.

I've been working on some serious upgrading, but it's looking like I might have to find a second job.

I think it'll be worth it, though!

It's not just strings, it is the basic package for the orchestra.

As far as cost goes, it all depends on what level you're working at. If you were scoring Hollywood movies, $500 would be less than the cappuccino bill for the orchestra.

Nah it isn't; Its a compilation with 10 different artist/styles etc.. Records companies don't get that; I have to tell them this isn't Rap
