Default Is every HD Core PCIe card an Accel Core Card?

Hello,

I want to buy an HD PCIe Core Card. Is this card automatically an Accel Core card or are two different versions available (HD Core and HD Accel Core) for the PCIe interface?

Thanks in advance,
Matiz

Default Re: Is every HD Core PCIe card an Accel Core Card?

Hello,

Every PCI-e core card is an Accel core and every PCI core is an HD core (no Accel chips).

I would take a peek at the compato doc's regarding PCI-e and XP machines though.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong please .

Good luck!

Len

you're right len,

the pci-e core is a core card with better throughput ... and the
pci-e accel is an accel card with better throughput.. but a pci-e
core does not equal a pci accel .. no presto chips.

I think that is backwards...
The HD Core has 9 Presto chips, and the PCIe HD Accel Core has 3 Presto, and 4 321's w/SRAM, and 2 w/o SRAM. Original Accel add-on cards had/have 2 Presto, 4 321's w/SRAM, and 3 w/o SRAM. So, the HD Core Accel PCIe (only) can do Accel plugs n such, even the "321 + SRAM Only" ones. It is the 1 Presto/1 SRAM-less 321 swap that renders the HD Core Accel PCIe card slightly underpowered compared to the regular PCI/PCI-X HD Accel process cards.

Please Digi? Can we please, please, please get PCIe for XP? Some of us would like to do a new system...
