Default laptop memory question

i have the gateway 7426gx laptop it has a gig of ram. i believe it has 2 512 chips one is unremovable. my question is ive always heard you should stay with matched memory sizes but i would really like to upgrade to 1.5 gb. anyone had any experiences with this type situation.

Default Re: laptop memory question

I'm doing that on my eMachines m6811 with great success.

The m6811 is the older brother of the gx, so you should have similar success as long as you get memory qualified to run on it. I got kingston for mine and used their online configuration system to choose the right upgrade.
