mbox2 used as sound card on pc windows vista

As advised I am reposting in the right forum.

I am trying to use the mbox2 as sound card in my pc to play mp3, wav and other formats on my stereo set. The stereo set is connected to the mbox2 via usb. Up to this point, the Pro tools 8 don't seem to be able to implement the above feature.

As far as you guys are aware:

1. is the mbox2 able to work in the scenario I have just described ?

2. If positive, can you please explain how or point me somewhere this is documented ?

3. can you suggest any other piece of hardware/software that implement the feature as for the description above ?

Nope, it was never intended to be a Sound Card, but a Pro Tools interface. There WAS a wavedriver for XP to allow some limited functionality as such but you'll find the majority of users enable their on-board sound for all the non-Pro Tools (incidental) audio.

if u want to play mp3´s. then its posible using "Winamp" its free and will let u use ASIO driver

Don't expect your I-tunes to work thru Digi hardware, though.
