MOTU Fastlane w/Mbox, not receiving MIDI data.HELP

I just purchased a MOTU fastlane USB interface yesterday and installed it. In ProTools on the MIDI trks input AND output tabs, it does recognize both ports as 'Fastlane A and B', however, when I arm the MIDI trk to record and push keys on my keyboard , I get no MIDI signal on the MIDI track. I am used to using Macs at work and am familiar with the 'Input devices' window and the OMS setup window, however, this is the first time I am using MIDI w/Pro Tools on a PC...what am I missing? I swapped the MIDI cables, swapped MIDI controllers (keyboards) and still nothing!

In the MIDI menu.. make sure you have "MIDI Thru" enabled.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that too. I do have MIDI thru checked. I guess what I'm asking is how do PC users configure our MIDI setups without MAC stuff like OMS and 'Input devices' windows. Should it just be as easy as plug and play or am I missing something. How am I supposed to get Pro Tools to: a) recognize my keyboard controller
b) establish MIDI communication from my MOTU interface to Pro Tools and
c) list my particular keyboards patches in the MIDI trks patch pull down menu?
