Before I spent 5k,, need answers

Hello all, i am looking to buying the S3 to use with PT 12. I have some questions about it.

1) I work on 96kHz/24bit and 48kHz/24bit, will the S3 be able to handle that or do i need another sound card?

2) Is the S3 , 0 Latency?

3) does it play nice in windows 7?

4) i never used ethernet conectivity for audio, is that nicer than firewire ?

1) I believe it is 48k only

2) Nothing Digital is 0 Latency

1) I haven't tested it extensively (but am about to), but I was able to play back a 96k session over AVB with the S3.

2) AVB sets some hard latency limits (not excluding conversion latency). I think it's a couple of ms. Anyway, Craig is right on this point.

4) it's just a transport, who cares - except Ethernet is potentially very nice because you can have a bunch of different devices connected to a switch and choose between them. There aren't very many AVB capable switches although MOTU does make an inexpensive one.
