Default Can't drag audio files from Workspace browser of finder.

Ussually, I pull sfx in to my session from the workspace browser, but now when I try to drag an audio file on to a track, it does put the audio file on the clip list(regions list) but on the tack it just makes a selection the same size as the audio file, but doesn't actually put the file on the track.

So I have to use the 'import audio' and then drag off the clip list, which really slows me down.

I am using two Glyph drives. the one that I run my session off of is 1 terabyte.(which has 500 gigs available)
and the one I run my SFX off of is 500 gigs
(which has 250 gigs available)

It is a large feature length film session and my tracks are maxed out, I'm working on a protools 10 LE session, and deactivaing lots of tracks till i go to mix in Protools HD.

Any help you can provide, will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

If the file shows up in the region bin, why do you have to "import" it?
Can't you just drag it from the bin to the track you want?

Do you see the same behavior if you drag to a track from a Finder window?

What are your preferences set for in Processing/Import -

Auto copy files on import
Convert Copied files to Session Format

try checking both of those.

Also, toss all your database files.

Check if the "auto spot regions" option is checked under the options menu.

Hi guys, check to make sure that you haven't done a search in the clip list before the drag and drop. I get this if I have previously searched for a file and then not cleared the search. I'll drag drop but the file will just go to the region/clip list.

I'm not sure but I think that checking the "add subsequent" box in the search window will allow you to have search results while also allowing to drag and drop (not in front of the machine to check.)

Hope this helps.
