Sorry I missed this part of the question before.

The latest I tried was Vacuum. But also, I've tried this using MIDI tracks (obviously no VI there at all) with the same result.

Default Re: MIDI controller active but no input

Hi everyone,

Finding out that PT11 is not technically supported for Win10 prompted me to upgrade to the latest version of PT. I'm hoping that'll solve the problem. If not I'll repost in the more modern forum. Thanks!

Under Setup->Peripherals, all are set to "none".
Under Setup - > MIDI -> Input Devices, "Roland Digital Piano [Emulated]" appears and is checked
Under Setup -> Preferences - > MIDI tab, the Default Thru Instrument is set to "First selected MIDI track"

None of the above matters on a Windows machine. What DOES matter is the proper setup in the following menu(from within Pro Tools):
Setup>Midi>Midi Studio.
1-In this menu, create a new "instrument" and name it as you like.
2-Brand and model can remain blank(these settings don't affect function)
3-Input Path is the crucial setting and "Roland Digital Piano [Emulated]" is most likely correct.
4-Lastly, make sure(for now) that all 16 midi channels for INPUT are selected.

This tells Pro Tools were to "look for" incoming midi data. The output path and midi channels won't matter unless you need to send midi back to the keyboard to play its on-board sounds. For testing purposes, create a new stereo instrument track and insert MiniGrand in the top slot. Once the plugin loads, mouse-click a few keys on the plugin to verify the plugin is loaded and working. Put the track into record-ready and play your keyboard. If it makes sound, you're all set. If not, then we have more troubleshooting to do.
