Topaz Gigapixel AI uses .ptx extension...same as Pro Tools
Just a warning that if you install Topaz Gigapixel AI (photo enhancing/sharpening) that it will "hijack" ProTools sessions as it uses the same extension ".ptx"
Unfortunate as I like the program. I've never encountered this...ever...where two software programs use the same file extension. Weird. -John |

Re: Topaz Gigapixel AI uses .ptx extension...same as Pro Tools
Huh... I almost tried that TGAI app a couple years ago. That would have been annoying.
I've seen some open spec file formats used by multiple applications, like .txt or .wav or .MP3 etc. I would guess there is some pushback by developers against their extensions being used in other softwares, even if just because of issues like this one with Topaz. I wonder if there can be any proprietary file extensions, or whether there would just be proprietary issues where the app would be decoding the PT session. I wonder if you wrote Topaz (I know they are smaller), they might want to change it, such as to .ptxx to prevent confusing things for audio and graphics users. |
