Keep in mind that the Control24 will work with Pro Tools 10, but will NOT work with 11 or 12. IIRC, the Control24 connects with cat5 to a standard ethernet port on the computer. That is all you need to use it as a control surface. The 16 mic preamps are available on DB25 connectors on the back, but most people do not use them(at least not for critical recording). They would need to connect to whatever interface you have(but did not mention). Outputs from your interface can be patched into the monitor section of the Control24, but they could also bypass it and go directly to a monitor/source switch such as the Presonus Central Station, Mackie Big Knob and any other of the many options on the market.

If none of this makes sense, I suggest you do a lot more homework before spending any money(especially on a piece of equipment that is no longer supported)

Just in case OP is not aware, there are two varieties.

Control24 is the one with the superior layout, and only works with Pro Tools 10 and under: http://i.imgur.com/VvAnqhS.jpg

C24 is the new version, and works with the latest versions of Pro Tools: http://i.imgur.com/mK05g4X.jpg
