Default 24\" iMac and LaCie d2 HDD?

I am about to make the jump form a pc to a mac and I have some questions first. Has anyone used ane LaCie FW drives with PTLE 7.1/7.3? I know that I will need an external HD for audio but can't figure out which is going to work best. Any sugestions? Is there an enclosure for SATA drives that will work(I have 3 audio/storage drives that I could canabalize from my PC if needed)? Help please. I need to know soon so that I can order ASAP. I have a project starting the first of January and would like to be running on my new iMac from the start rather than switching halfway through.
Thanks
-Chris

I would steer clear of the LaCie's, I have heard the horror stories.
I would try the Mercury Elite Pro from OWC : http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firew...4/USB/EliteAL/

I agree with the above. I'd also look into the WD Raptor 10000 rpm drives with an external firewire enclosure or a regular WD 8mb cache 7200rpm drive. I've had great luck with these drives.

Lacie has some drives that just simply do not cut it for pro tools,, my experience was with the porshce models,, I had three of them crash in a row, and when they went they took the other hard drives daisy chained, with them,,,,,

if fairness to Lacie, the did replace my Porshce models,,, with the more expensive D2 and I have not had any problems with it,,,, but becarefull!! I lost 2 yrs worth of major hard work,,, and also lost several clients.....

BACKUP!!!! DATA -----in the digital world if it dosent' exist in 2 places it dosen't exist!!!

Have you gone to the OWC website? You will also find enclosures there....Spend a few minutes checking the site, they also have cheap fast shipping options..

I've used a fw800 lacie d2 for the last 3 years with no problems, and I am constantly recording all over the place in different rooms, so its nothing but thumbs up from me
