Well Hot damn.

I was just about to order VE pro, but I guess it's time for me to finally upgrade from Logic 8 and savor the flavor of using all of my RAM.

But I suppose I can wait to see if anything cooler comes at NAMM.

Wow!
Just wow!

As we speak I'm having issues managing memory consumption on several sessions. Just sad. Ok, I'll just go back to work.

Some features may not be available in 64 bit mode.

See this page before upgrading.

This won't do much for the sound quality i expect.
It will give them a head start in terms of sheer RAM usage for VI's.

Wonder what Avid's response will be and how long we have to wait?

Something cooking on the stove ready for NAMM 2010?
I doubt it but one may have dreams.

Whoa, that's a lot of side efects though:

The following features are not currently available when using Logic Pro 9.1 in 64-bit mode.

Firewire streaming of video
Digital Cinema Desktop
AAF import and export
EuCon control surface support
Automap of parameters with control surfaces
OMF import and export
Conversion to MP3
Recycle (REX) file support
ReWire support
Vienna Symphonic Library Tool
Logic Node processing
AKAI format sample import

Wonder if it will be adopted by the users with these side effects?

Thanks for the heads-up. Checked out the link and am a little disappointed. I wonder how many of these gotchas are because the current state of such is that they are 32 bit only, like rewire? Until Propellerhead gets off it's duff and updates that, that will always be a problem. I've asked over on their forum about it in relation to another daw s/w I use and was as much as laughed at by the populace over there for even asking the question. The general response was: "Things sound okay as they are, why would or should the Propheads do a 64 bit rewire?"

3rd party libraries (other than AU plugins) need to be updated to work 64bit. That's all that list is. And a few Apple libraries may still need updating. Will be true of any DAW.

But this is an important demonstration that Apple has seized the initiative and the specialist companies like Digi are lagging the technology curve on DAWs.
