Popping noise
I had some problems with my OCW Mercury Elite hard drive. So I copied
all my files to a Seagate Free Agent usb drive I have. I played a little bit of my tracks, everything seemed to play ok. Sent the OCW drive off for repair or replacement after deleting my files off of it. Just upgraded to the latest version of PT8, thought I'd listen to some tracks on the old usb drive. Now when I play them I'm getting a loud popping noise on my vocal tracks. I don't know if this is just a usb problem or if this will still be on my tracks when I get the OWC firewire drive back & copy my files back onto it... Anyone having any noise problems after upgrading to PT8's latest version?

Re: Popping noise
First off, USB drives are not supported or recommended for Pro Tools use. WHat interface do you have? Is there any external unit plugged into your interface via a digital connection. Pops are a common problem with mis-clocked digital connections.

Re: Popping noise
Albee,
Yes I'm aware of the usb not supported. Was just using this drive for backup. I have a MBox 2, nothing digitally connected. Thanks for the reply. I hope the pops disappear when I get my firewire drive back & copy my files back to it.

Re: Popping noise
I have an Mbox 2 Pro firewire and I have the same problem with ALL of my input and playback...It's like this distorted popcorn noise. This started when I updated to 8.0.1. So I went back to 8.0 and the problem persists. I can't record, playback, or anything. It sucks!
