Default Exporting from PT LE to FCP?

I'm doing some simple editing in LE and want to export my session work into Final Cut Pro. Can it be done? I'm interested in exporting all my work as individual regions, edits, crossfades, etc., and would like to avoid doing a mixdown.

Thanks!!

Default Re: Exporting from PT LE to FCP?

do you have the DV Option for PT LE and/or DigiTranslator? that's what you need. it will allow you to export (and import) OMF files. an OMF is an Open Media File. in your case, it would be a file exported from Pro Tools that contains all of your audio regions and files, automation, and fades/edits. another app that can import OMF would import this file, and re-create your multi-track audio data.

in theory, OMF is a smooth and seamless way to transfer media files and automation and edits. in reality, it's a bit dodgy.

others will correct me if i'm wrong, since i don't know much about Final Cut (except that i once had to do a sound mix for a film using only the audio editing features of Final Cut. the memories of that 25 hour non-stop session continue to haunt me. ), but FCP will import OMF's. i know that it can export them.

check out "software" under the Pro Tools LE Systems page on the digi website.

hope that's helpful.
