Unhappy Please tell me What you must do if you lose your ilok!

Ok so, don't ask me how, because I have no flippin clue..
All I know is I lost my Ilok. That is all I know, and I have looked and looked, and it is gone.
I am 90% sure it fell out of my pocket at a store, and I have called and looked at many stores I may have visited.

So. I had one ilok, only one. I told ilok.com it's gone. And so, now what? I have my pro tools boxes, and my mbox. I live in new zealand, I don't think there's a problem with pro tools piracy here. Especially not Ilok theft, not in my small town haha.

Do I need to call avid and get them to resend my codes to ilok? I know I obviously need to buy a new ilok, that's fine. I'll get a few.

You need to contact all the developers for the plugs that you have on your iLok, including Avid, and then try to persuade them that they want to give you another licence.

If you have an Ilok account.... You can easily just buy a new Ilok and transfer the licenses to the new Ilok... as long as the new ilok is registered under you account it will cost nothing but the price of a new Ilok (I think $45). You usually have to have the original Ilok but that could probably be delt with If you contact Ilok support.

You dont have to contact anyone as far as the Plug in Vendors as long as your license are in your Ilok account..

NOTE FROM AVID ADMIN - You would need the original iLok with the licenses to be able to transfer them to another iLok. These links cover the process:

Good work Admin!

I've never seen you guys step in an actually edit someone else's erroneous posts directly (usually a follow up post to point out the error), but this is something I approve of.

There are a lot of myths that keep getting perpetuated, and it just wastes so much bandwidth.

So long as it's about correcting matters of fact, rather than opinion, I think this is a useful policy.

Right, so as I said you need to contact the plugin developers to see if they will give you another licence.

I mentioned that you usually need the other Ilok... Its not my opinion either... This is fact... You could possibly contact Ilok (If like I have a ton of stuff with them) as they have assisted me on combining multiple accounts and waved transfer fees before.

I think I am going to get a rider on my insurance for my stupid iLok. Sounds like a ROYAL HASSLE if you lose it.

I just keep mine stuck in the computer and don't think I would ever find a reason to leave the house with it.

That's completely and utterly wrong.

ZDT will transfer licenses temporarily so you can keep working. They will not replace your lost licenses.

Insurance is a good thing. Get it for replacement value. If you lose your iLok, how much will you have to spend to get all the licenses back? That's the amount you should insure fore.

Exactly my point... insurance will not allow you to use them until you get the insurance claim and then pay for your licenses... I didnt say ZDT without insurance... but ZDT will allow you to "lose" an ilok and still work... That is MY point... maybe just taking it the wrong way?
