Hello Everybody,
I have the same question, I would like to assemble a PC with PT8 with 3 PCI-X cards. What do you thinks about this config ? Do you have an alternative ?
Thanks & best regards...

I had a bad experience with this board ASUS P6T WS PRO S1366. ProTools is not working on it. The problem, I think, in the controller PCIX, which is implemented on a chip NEC. Do not buy it for ProTools HD.

I tested a Protools HD3 Accel PCIX on these motherboards. We all worked well on Windows XP

http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=pr...1&prod_no=1845

or

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/...ProductID=3294

but with motherboard Gigabyte is a mechanical problem, the board ProTools HD prevents become a PCI slot heatsink chipset P55. http://yfrog.com/31mbproductimagegap55us3lj

The solution to this is the replacement of the heatsink on a low-profile, or slightly change the native heatsink (I personally did so)

There are a few variations on the ASUS P55 motherboards. This one seems to have the least obstructions for full length cards but i haven't tried the others yet.

i'm going for this or the MSI one.

I built a computer using the Asus P7P55D with HD2 PCIX. It has been stable with Windows 7 32 bit.

Digital Caviar Black 1 TB drives
CORSAIR XMS3 DHX 4GB (2 X 2GB)
Antec CP-850 850 Watt CPX Power Supply
Core i7 Processor I7-860
Antec P183 Case (had to tear out some interior metal to fit the HD cards)
Noctua NH-U12P CPU cooler
Sony Optiarc AD-7240S-0B 24X Dual Layer DVD+/-RW SATA Drive
DIAMOND 4850PE3512 Radeon HD 4850 512MB (because it doesn't block a PCI slot)

Just finished using it for ten hours today, not a single problem.

I wish digi would update the compatibility docs for this computer. I can't find anything on their web site.

check on the used market, i got mine for dirt cheap. It runs just as fast as my Mac Pro dual quad core and i have not had any problems with it.
Great machine and rock solid.

HP XW-4600 Quad-core 2.66 Ghz ( Q9550 ), Quadro FX1700 graphics, 4 Gb ram, Win XP 32 bits.
