I agree, its great to support the DUC.
On the Source Elements web search, certified users are a good place to start to weed out the all of the options.

Hello. I think it may be time to shoot the fine folks at Source Elements an e-mail about this. They need to subdivide their search categories into cities or regions. Because as we know California can be Northern California (San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento, San Jose, etc) and Southern California. Southern California can be anywhere from LA to Glendale to San Diego and anywhere in between. So I don't know if city listings are better than regional listings. In the case of LA somewhere in Burbank or Studio City or North Hollywood can work as well as Culver City, Santa Monica or Venice. It doesn't have to be LA. Same goes for any major metroploitan area.

However we do know that a Source Connect user in El Paso does no good to someone that needs it in the Houston area even though they are both in Texas.

We've had good luck with Outlaw Sound as well.

I think it would be great if they could make a mashup of Google maps and their own catalog of source connect users.

Rebekah are you listening?

cheers

I've been hearing about this Source Connect for some time now. How is it working out for you guys. I do quite a few ISDN APT-X
patches and was wpndering how does it compare? What's the major differences between the different versions. Pro vs. Non Pro? How do you all charge for using it? I make some nice money from the ISDN services and am curious to know how you all make money from this.

Thanks

Hello. The biggest caveat with Source Connect is that both ends must have a wide pipe. This is the only issue with Source Connect. I can have a dedicated T1 on my end but if the other side is sharing a DSL on a heavily trafficed network then there will probably be issues. In my experience if both ends have a dedicated line just for the plug in on a fixed IP address, then the performance is flawless. As for the sound, Source Connect sounds very good. It sounds better than any ISDN I have ever used.

As long as we are shooting e-mail requests to the fine folks at Source Connect, it occurs to me that they could add another field to their Profile entries. That would be Connection Speed or Network Specs or whatever that would be called. That way a user could go on the web and not only find users in LA as opposed to San Francisco, but additionally then when they find 5 or 6 in LA they can tell which ones have the widest pipe. For example Joe Blow Sound, LA, T1 and John Doe, Burbank, DSL, etc.

In an ideal world there could be some sort of Source Elements qualification. Something that tells me that Source Elements did a test pass with that user and has signed off on his/her specs. I realize that may be a little bit too much to ask for, and the logistics involved may be a little too much.

But a city listing and network specs may be easier to implement and very useful for us.

As for prices, I don't know about the rest, but so far in my experience the going rate is a little bit less or the same as ISDN. I suppose if and when everybody and their grandma has Source Connect prices may go down but that remains to be seen.
