Default Control 24 Self-Repairs

How many of you have done the self repair on the Control 24 Power Supply and/or fader cards. I am having the familiar problems many others have posted about.

Is the self-repair procedure straight forward?
Am I the only one who finds it galling that Digi wants me to sign away my rights (including any warranty claims) so I can do the repair myself on my time, and save them shipping for a warranty repair?

Now I don't want to be unreasonable but....this gear ain't exactly cheap....

With two of us, we opened the unit, replaced the power supply and related cards, closed it up again, within 2-3 hours.

One person could do it, but it helps with man-handling the thing around.

I found the replacement to be relatively easy to perform. There are a dozen or so 'molex' connectors to unplug, cut and remove the toroidal transformer, replace some metal work, reconnect molex plags (keep the preamp connectors separate), then unplug 24 small connectors, replace the 3 fader boards and reconnect. The only trouble I ran into was that some of the wiring was too short. Once they were slightly rerouted it was all good. If you are comfortable with a screw driver and instructions, you'll be fine.

Plus the replacement PS is a switching type instead of a transformer/power transistor type. No heat-sink required.

Cheers,
Chris
