MBP 2019 with Catalina - How to run an older OS [Yosemite]
Hey everyone,
I have a Macbook Pro 2019 with Catalina after upgrading from my 2012 Macbook Pro (I still have it). I have ProTools 11 and want to run it on Yosemite. I see my options are: - Use Parallels to run Yosemite inside Catalina - Use a bootable USB with Yosemite on it - Buy new software (and suffer paying a yearly fee) Does anyone have any luck with running proTools in Parallels or as a bootable USB (specifically in Catalina)? Thanks! |

Re: MBP 2019 with Catalina - How to run an older OS [Yosemite]
You can’t run Yosemite natively on that laptop.
You can run it in a VM, but honestly, I wouldn’t go there with any DAW, let alone PT. Bite the bullet and go up to the latest version of PT. It may not be your best option from a financial POV, but it is from a ‘working system’ standpoint. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If you want a permanent license asset look at third party vendors like Sweetwater that still have reinstatement plans. I think they're going for $299 US. Avid stopped selling reinstatement plans a while back and anything you get from Avis is a subscription of some sort. Do be advised though that even with a permanent license you still have to pay a yearly Avid tax of $199 for updates and support. There's no such thing as permanently available updates; that ended with the end of PT11 I believe. |
