Angry Coreaudio, digi 001 and Tiger.

So I decided to junk PT 6.4 and Panther due to the bs problems I was having and go with a 3rd party software.
I've read hundreds of pages on this, it seems to work for everyone, so whats my problem?

I have tried every Coreaudio driver there is from 6.4 to 7.4 and so far 7.0 was the most unresponsive. 6.5-6.9 didn't work, 7.4 at least loads, but no hardware found in any version. The card shows in "about this mac", but not in the sound preferences.

Thats the first issue to fix is why it's not showing up as a sound device in preferences and it's showing in about this mac.

I'm running 10.4.2 and Coreaudio 7.4 (at the moment)

Any ideas on the card not showing up?

Make sure your 001 pci card is working. Check the optical I/O on the PCI card to see if the red light is on, if its not try reseating the PCI card. Unfortunately if that doesn't work your PCI card may no longer be working.

Last version to support 001 was 6.4.
I have a G4 with 10.4.11 and PT6.4 and digi001 running fine.
Digi Core Audio Manager too.

I went back to Panther (10.3.3 and 10.3.5) to finish up some work and the bs continues. PT crashes as it always has after 10 minutes or so.

The card works fine on Windows and some what on Panther--to a point, but not with Coreaudio in Tiger.

Also.....I'm not using Pro Tools under Tiger as stated, so any mention of 6.4 and it's support isn't relevant to my post.

Also Ben Jenssen, how could you install PT 6.4 on Tiger if the installer won't allow it? In my case it won't.

Swag74, I'm sorry, I could be mistaken and it's panther I have on my old system. You're probably right. I hardly ever use it, and I haven't checked.
But anyway 6.4 IS the last v to support 001...

I used Digi Core Audio 6.9 on my Panther 10.3.9 system with an 001. It was fairly stable for the most part, but would get kinda wonky with some 3rd party apps mostly games. PTLE 6.4 was rock solid.

I remember some people posting that the 001 worked in 10.4 with Core Audio 6.9, but I never went there myself. I traded my 001 for a Delta 1010, and PTMP 7.1. Been a happy camper ever since other than the workarounds for the latency which are not that bad. Just gotta run some more cables, and hardware.

The main deal-killer for the 001 with Panther is QuickTime. Anything beyond 6.5.2 is no good AFAIK. Come to think of it QT has always been a major PITA when it comes to upgrading software versions.

FWIW things seemed to work better when I installed Core Audio first, and then PTLE for some reason. YMMV.
