Crying over PTLE 6.4 problems! HEEEELLLLP Please?

Ok dramatic title.. basically, i've installed ProTools LE 6.4 from both the net download AND the CD supplied. The CD has also the factory plugin's for which i plugged in the USB key.

Each time i try and load PTLE it crashes on the plugin loading. It finds all the plugin's etc but as soon as it goes ot load it just jams up..

I've uninstalled/reinstalled about 6times now and done every single troubleshooting check suggested at the top of this forum.

Im running a PowerBook G4, MacOS Journaled formatted, 512ram, Mbox, PTLE 6.4, 9GB free space on the hardrive..

Please help.. anything other than a re-format of the Powerbook.. i honestly don't have an external drive i can dump 50gigs of documents and mix data onto..

Which OS version? You need at least 10.3.2 . See Here - Compatability . Also load the latest Pace drivers from www.paceap.com for your ilok key.

Yea i'm on 10.3.8 and for now i have completly uninstalled the factory stuff so i'm trying with just the basic PTLE setup cd.. still crashing out on the 'Loading Plug-Ins'
Any more suggestions?

Turn off the Journaling.

Go to disk utilities highlight the drive and then - File , Disengage journaling.

gove it a try - hope this helps

Try pulling all the plug-ins from the the plug-ins folder. If the crash persists then plug-ins are not the problem and you should try setting up a new admin account, then login to this account and launch Pro Tools.

Is it really a good idea to load a new OS and PTLE on a drive that's already got tons of stuff on it? And does that mean you're recording to the same drive? One of the best things I've done for my recording computer is perform a clean install a couple of times a year. Besides, I think hard disks are getting pretty cheap.

Hey guys
sorry about the delay in getting back with an update.
In the end i resorted to a format of the computer, because i didn't partition the drives i couldn't turn off journaling so it was the last resort.
I'm all partitioned up now and running without journaling and its working great

You can turn off (and back on) journaling, even on the boot drive, without partitioning. Journaling doesn't cause problems for me on the boot drive, which also holds the ProTools program and plugins. It might cause problems on the drive where you store your sessions, or it might not.
